Sex Trafficking & Sexual Exploitation Counselling & Support Services (STECSS)

The DRCC’s STECSS program is dedicated to providing support to recent and historical survivors of sex trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, aged 16 and above.

The following services and supports are available under the STECSS program:

  • Interim Counselling
  • Individual Counselling
  • Group Counselling
  • Advocacy and Accompaniment Services
  • 24/7 Crisis, Information, and Support Line: 905-668-9200

In the STECSS program, we recognize the urgency of support for survivors, which is why there is no wait time to receive counselling at this time. Please note that other programs at the DRCC may be impacted by wait times. Please connect with Michaela at michaela@drcc.ca to inquire about wait times for specific programs.

STECSS Counselling Streams

STECSS offers two distinct counselling options tailored to meet the diverse needs of survivors: the Guided Support Stream and the Quick Access Stream.

Guided Support Stream

Duration: 8-10 sessions, each lasting approx. 50 minutes

Purpose: These sessions are semi-structured and goal oriented, allowing individuals to address the complexities of their experiences and their impact. DRCC works closely to address individuals’ unique challenges and empower them on their healing journey.

Quick Access Stream

Duration: Ongoing sessions, each lasting approx. 30 minutes

Purpose: Similar to a crisis call, these sessions provide support for coping and managing distressful thoughts, emotions, or experiences. Please note that due to the nature and limitations of brief counselling, these sessions are not suitable to process complex trauma. Individuals who are interested in working through complex trauma may benefit more from our longer-term, semi-structured counselling sessions offered in the Guided Healing Program.
